Guns for Nutters

In my opinion it is long past time anyone trying to purchase a weapon be forced to submit to psychological testing prior to the merchant putting a weapon in his or her hands. Now I am all for second amendment rights, however, I believe some controls need to be in place. It is obvious the current system doesn't work. One can have a  clean record and yet still be a lunatic -- there are no real safeguards against psychos buying weapons. Not all nutters look as though they might go on a shooting…

Gypsies, liars, and Thieves: Election 2010

Watching the ad campaigns on TV saddens me to no end to see our system is so broke. Few if any of the candidates have anything to offer their potential constituents so they are forced to denigrate their opponent. A slur planted here, bring up something questionable a candidate did in the past there, always bad mouth the other person. Truth be told I wouldn't vote for any of the current major party candidates, none of them have any coherent plan to fix the current situation that many of them… Continue

There are other options

Almost to the finish line and neither party is offering anyone worth voting for in any of the races. Brewer's main accomplishment has been to raise taxes, Horne has done nothing to advance AZ standings in education amongst the other states, and so on.

There is a good candidate for governor, however. He won't get the play from the media because he doesn't have the money to throw at them and many people won't vote for him because they are wearing two party blinders, but the libertarian… Continue

The Dysart bond Override

It is no secret that education in the state of Arizona is on the skids, from the recent action against teachers by the Republicans and now apparently from a lack of interest on the part of the City of Surprise government. No action has been taken to publicize or promote the Dysart Bond Override which will show up on a ballot this March.

The Override will not cause any tax increase, there is a $12/month tax already in place that will be continued. The bottom line is that every child… Continue

Thanks for your participation in discussions related to military matters Bob. I enjoy thinking about how the Tea Party Movement operates as a force asymmetric to the tradtional political power structure. In warfare asymmetric conflict falls somewhere between the spheres of the military & law enforcement. The Air War College has some quite interesting materials along these lines: Sadly, The US Navy Center for Asymmetric Warfare wants to fight such wars in the most bureaucratic method possible. Acting in my capacity as a Czech American public affairs committee member , I had encouraged other NATO members to contact those guys. Some contractor threw a wet blanket on the whole thing. This is why I think that Tea Parties, rather than overstuffed establishments will play an important role in revamping the western civilization response to the long term threat of terrorism....Respectfully, Bob

You know Bob, no matter how much money you throw at education, it will not make a difference in what our children learn. Education has to start in the heart of the parent who then plants and nourishes that desire in the child, ---- then the principal of each school plants and motivates that desire in their teachers to teach ---really teach the children from the heart.

Millions of dollars are wasted in the school system --- it is continually misappropriated---just like the "stimulus" money. We have to cut everywhere right now, and all levels of public funding need to make every dollar count. Something America/Arizona has not done for a very long time.

Hello Bob, Welcome to the Tea Party. The West Valley Group meets at a Phx fire station located at 9820 W. Campbell Ave. Situated between Camelback Rd and Indian School Rd, it is just west of the 101 freeway and east of 99th Ave. The fire station is in a field all by itself easily visible as you approach. Every Wednesday night from 6:30pm till 8:30 pm, we will continue on a weekly basis long after the insanity stage. look forward to seeing you there. Charlie
