Greater Phoenix Tea Party Patriots

Patriot Groups throughout the Maricopa and North Pinal County area.

My response to Lynne Breyer's statement to the GPTPP:

I was at the last Board of Director’s meeting and nothing was mentioned about Kelly Townsend.  As to negotiations with Kelly being done quietly, anything that concerns any portion of the Greater Phoenix Tea Party Patriots concerns each and every member of the group.  As a member of the GPTPP and Board member, I have not heard about anything.  There is no matter, big or small, that should be kept secret from the entire membership unless there is something to hide by one member or another.  Apparently there is an ongoing dispute that will eventually surface and be known to all members.

No leader has the right to treat members of any organization like mushrooms.  We all know the old saying about mushrooms.  This is precisely the actions we protest from our Federal government!  Nothing this group engages in, including negotiations with Kelly Townsend, belongs behind closed doors, in private emails or in private telephone calls.

Your statement doesn’t begin to answer my questions.  Kelly spoke up to the entire membership for a reason.  To me, it appears as if you have overstepped your bounds on behalf of the membership, i.e., me, for one.  Just as the President of the United States answers to the American people, so do you to the members of the Greater Phoenix Tea Party Patriots.  Kelly started this group with concepts of transparency and non-partisanship but that’s not how it is being administrated under your leadership.  The organization ran smoothly under Kelly’s leadership because it was aboveboard and did not engage in backroom deals.

As far as I am concerned, there is a great deal you must explain to the GPTPP in order to lay this matter to rest and diffuse a time bomb which currently threatens our very existence, for there are already members stating they are quitting our organization.

No offense taken Robert I can see your point to a degree. I suppose that is why I will be patient and wait to see what Lynne has to share tomorrow. I believe that imploding within organization's can be avoided by requiring honesty and straight forward discussion.

Sorry Charlene, I wasn't very clear. What I was trying to say is that those who read our posts might think something foul is in play. You and Karen seem level headed enough to wait and see how things turn out. I'm not part of any administrative group of GPTPP, just someone with some serious experience with previous groups that imploded and would really like to be a member of a more forward thinking organization. We really do need to put the organization first as it touches so many other people... like me, a new member.

Robert, perhaps you might want to read my post again as I am not discussing this in any fashion that would require a vivid imagination. You wrote, "We naturally gravitate toward thinking something sinister is afoot." I personally deal in fact not make believe, although I do love a good Sci-Fi. As for us dragging Kelly that is not the case this came to our attention and noone here is asking Kelly to do, say or react in any way shape or form.  No one is going to attack Lynne, but we do expect Lynne being in the position she is in to clear up any contention there is, and keep us abreast of what is going on.

I see that as the only way any person can create bonds of respect and future support from those they protest to be of like-mindedness with.

Hope you can make it to the Board Meeting tomorrow.

Karen and Charlene, the discussion about the issues between Kelly and Lynne don't help us at all. In fact they only create more and more suspicion because readers have vivid imaginations. We naturally gravitate toward thinking something sinister is afoot. Kelly is going to grad school, been there, done that. It is incredibly demanding and will force Kelly to divide her interests between us and her school work. I don't know Kelly as I'm new to this organization. But I do know the time constraints of Masters and Ph.D level work. She simply isn't going to have the time necessary to be fair to us. If I were back doing what she is going to be doing, spending my time on here would be irresponsible. I also think getting Kelly worked up over this is just as irresponsible of us. She has an incredible opportunity in the form of a higher degree and she shouldn't be distracted from that. She should put us on the back burner and we should encourage her to attend to her needs first. We need to focus on the affairs of our country and not be distracted by what are often routine disagreements between those taking over a business and those leaving the business.

Benjamin Franklin once said “Three can keep a secret if two are dead.”  This is what comes of secret dealings conducted out of the public/memberships’ eyes: no good.  Accusations, innuendos, misdeeds, etc.  No party in this situation, not the GPTPP nor Kelly have been done any favors by backroom dealing.  Can anyone honestly tell me how the Executive Board has protected Kelly’s image?  It doesn’t take a magnifying glass to see a tarantula on the wall.  Something negative apparently happened to Kelly in which she felt the need to make known before the entire GPTPP.  Just like in writing: cause and effect.

I believe that whatever the issue is there is a solution. I, like many other members here, am automatically protective of Kelly and that will not change, but I also can say with honesty that I do not know Lynne well enough nor have I been privvy to what has been said between the two, to attack her.

However I also understand that many members here have been privvy to the problem and the sparring going on, and I can say with honesty that I feel protective of them as well.

Be that as it may I will keep an open mind at the Board Meeting tomorrow, but I know that I for one expect to hear answers and not alot of rubbish. Believe me you, I do not have a high tolerance for rubbish these days that fun meter peaked a long time ago, and I will not be bullied or ruled by anyone person.

Quite honestly I do not approve of the word Leader, or president being used to describe any member.

@Robert and Karen like you I will not quit. Families have problems all the time and we don't quit them do we?

@Leon the problems we face now in our country are far greater than any contention within the group, but we have taken that on, right? Breaking your ties will speak volumes to progressives everywhere. It will say we are weak and cannot work together even under the slightest pressure. They would be on this like white on rice!

I did not threaten to leave the group and I have no intention to do so.

Seems we all talk about being united but at the first sign of trouble people abandon ship. That's how we fail, not the dealings between leaders at the top. Why not cool our jets and see where the negotiations go. I have just joined this group and would like it if we all stayed on board. Kelly's feelings were clearly hurt but Lynne seems to have a good head on her shoulders. Why don't you and I, the members, stick together and ride this wave out? For each of you that threatens to leave, you only hurt members like me and I don't even know you. Remember, divided we fall. We've captured the attention of Washington and the fight's not over. Let's ride this out.

I agree there is some explaining to do. I would advise this group to get it's act together. There will be no need for progressives or others to attact the tea party in Phoenix, distruction is coming from the inside. Make no mistake, I for one and a couple of others here will break our ties with this organization.
